This class is for ABC Quality Childcare facility staff who have already completed the full, 7-hour National Safety Council Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED Course. This 4-hour recertification course is required every 2 years to maintain active certification.


Please note: If you currently hold a certification through another organization like American Heart Association or American Red Cross, you are NOT elligible to take the NSC Recertification. You must have completed your initial certification with the National Safety Council in order to take the 4 hour recertification course.

We have adapted all of the topics from our NSC First Aid, CPR and AED course to meet the special needs of infants and children in our pediatric first aid course. Our programs also address important issues such as caring for children with medical conditions (asthma, diabetes, HIV), and dealing with signs of abuse and neglect. Alive at 25 focuses on behaviors and decision-making young drivers are faced with behind the wheel. The course is instructed by law enforcement officers and first responders, and curriculum includes activities, videos, case studies, personal stories from instructors, and problem solving that allows participants to form their own conclusions regarding their behavior.

Alive at 25 is a 4.5 hour, single session class. Arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to class start time to find the classroom and check-in. High school locations will have signage or a representative at the main entrance to direct students to the classroom. Food and beverage is not provided, but students are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks for breaks.

This course will teach participants how to instruct others to save lives by becoming a National Safety Council Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED Instructor. Attending, participating in and successfully completing the course gives you the knowledge, technical information and materials needed to become an authorized NSC First Aid, CPR & AED Instructor.

*This is a 3-day course that must be completed in full. The first day of class is held on Saturday, Monday is the second full day of class, and the course finishes on Tuesday. You MUST be an employee of an ABC Quality Childcare facility to attend this training. Participants are not required to have NSC certification prior to taking the course.

Upon successful completion of the course, new instructors will be provided: • 5 adult and 2 infant training mannequins • 1 practice AED • Instructor kit including first aid demonstration kits, student works books and face shields.
