About This Course:
This course covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. A copy of the 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards is included with the registration fee. Participants must successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course.

For those interested in becoming authorized to teach 10hr and 30hr OSHA Outreach classes, the OSHA #511 course meets one of two prerequisites for the OSHA #501 Trainer Course for General Industry. Please note, the 30-hour General Industry OSHA outreach class is not considered equivalent to OSHA #511.

Recommended for:
Environmental, safety and health managers and employees, plant and facility engineers, maintenance staff, individuals new to the field, experienced environmental safety and health managers looking to expand their knowledge.

About This Course:
Successful completion of this course results in participants becoming OSHA-authorized trainers in OSHA’s Outreach Training Program for the Construction Industry. Authorized trainers can conduct both 10-hour and 30-hour construction industry classes that provide training to workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces along with information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a workplace safety complaint. OSHA-authorized trainers are able to issue 10 and 30-hour course completion cards to participants.

During the course, students will work with a partner to develop a presentation and teach an assigned OSHA Construction Industry Outreach topic, and successfully pass a written exam. Participants will be provided with a variety of training materials and resources.

Prerequisites:

A completed and signed Prerequisite Verification Form and a copy of the OSHA #510 certificate must be submitted to OTIprerequisite@ncsu.edu in order to confirm eligibility for this course.

Previously-authorized OSHA Outreach Trainers for the Construction Industry whose status has expired within the last 10 years are not required to attend the OSHA #510 or submit the prerequisite form if they submit a copy of their trainer card.

Recommended for:
Experienced safety professionals interested in teaching the OSHA 10 and 30-hour construction industry safety and health outreach program to their employees and/or other interested groups.

The driver education program will be taught by certified and retired South Carolina Police Officers. These drivers education instructors have been working for the Safety Council for many years and have proven to be reliable and are all committed to excellence. Beginner driver’s education is a partnership, between you, your driver training school of choice, and your beginner driver. All three must work together to impart the lifesaving message of safe beginner driving to our newest drivers. If you choose the SCNSC drivers education program, your beginner driver will learn and receive instruction in the following areas: 8 hours classroom instruction, 6 hours Behind the Wheel Training, lunch (so the students won’t have to travel from this location, please bring your own lunch if a special diet is needed). SCDMV road test (to get their restricted/license) is also available for a $40.00 fee. Additional Behind the Wheel Training (if requested) per hour $50.00.

About This Course:
This course provides an update for currently authorized OSHA Construction Industry Outreach Trainers on topics such as OSHA construction industry standards, policies and regulations. Construction industry outreach trainers are required to attend this course once every four years to maintain trainer status.

During the course, students will work with a partner to develop a presentation and teach an assigned OSHA Construction Industry Outreach topic. Participants will be provided with a variety of training materials and resources.

Prerequisites:
Trainers must submit a copy of their current trainer card to OTIprerequisite@ncsu.edu at the time of registration.

Trainers have a 90-day grace period after their expiration to take the OSHA #502 update class. Beyond 90 days, trainers must re-take the OSHA #500 Trainer Course. Please note, during the 90-day grace period, instructors are no longer authorized to conduct 10-hour or 30-hour classes and will not be able to request student completion cards.

Recommended for:
Currently authorized OSHA Construction Industry Outreach Trainers who have previously completed the OSHA #500 or OSHA #502 and need to renew their trainer status.
