Distracted Driving Simulator Tour

SCNSC and State Farm are partnering with local Law Enforcement Departments and Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD SC) during Teen Driver Safety Week to remind teen drivers that distracted driving can be deadly. Throughout the month, we will visit five high schools to bring students an outdoor, hands-on learning experience.

Tuesday, October 4 | Charleston, SC @ Lucy Beckham High School
Wednesday, October 5 | Charleston, SC @ Lucy Beckham High School
Thursday, October 6 | Charleston, SC @ Palmetto Christian Academy
Tuesday, October 18 | Blythewood, SC @ Blythewood High School
Wednesday, October 19 | Columbia, SC @ TBA

In addition to the virtual reality SCNSC Distracted Driving Simulator, Law Enforement Officers will conduct mock traffic stops to show young drivers how to prepare and respond during a routine traffic stop. We'll also have a cone course set up for students to navigate a golf cart while wearing Fatal Vision Goggles, which simulate impairment.

Just Drive

On a typical day, more than 700 people are injured in distracted driving crashes across the nation.

Every hour, a South Carolina driver crashes because they are distracted behind the wheel - that's more than 8,000 collisions a year.

In Georgia, more than 31,000 traffic violations were issued due to distracted driving in 2020.

Talking on a cell phone, even hands-free, texting, or programming an infotainment system diverts your attention away from driving. Keep yourself and others around you safe and #justdrive.
